Excel 2003: How to Download, Install, Save, and Configure for Macros

1. Look for the e-mail with the download link. You may need to check your Spam folder.
    Click on the download link.

2. Click to download.

3. Save the file.

4. Find the file in your download folder and open.

5. Install the file.

6. You'll see this dialog box the first time you open EZ Numbers. Click "Always trust macros from this publisher" and "Enable Macros."

7. EZ Numbers will now be saved in a folder called EZ Numbers in your Program Files. When you save EZ Numbers the first time, we recommend you save a working copy in to your Documents folder. That way you always have a clean, back-up copy in your Program Files folder.

8. Finally, you need to configure Excel to allow Macros to run. Macros are basically recorded key strokes that allow for navigation and functionality shortcuts. Here's an example from pro formas that allow you to view periods in Months, Quarters, and Years:

This ability to see different views at the click of a button is one of the many proprietary macros in EZ Numbers.

9. On the Menu Bar, select "Tools", then "Macro", then "Security"

10. Select "Medium." This will allow the macros in EZ Numbers to run. You can also select "High" if you want, but with some system configurations it won't work, even though EZ Numbers is a "trusted source."

11. Finally, you need to activate an Add-In. Add-Ins are Excel components that provide additional functionality. To make NPV and IRR work correctly, you need to enable the Analysis ToolPak. To do this, select Tools, then Add-Ins."

12. Select "Analysis Tool-Pak" then click Ok.

13. Last step! Save Excel, quit the application, then re-open. This will remove "Read Only."
